Fuel for the Boiler

Update: August 29, 2010 – We may be able to keep our boiler with some upgrades and repairs. We’ve had many companies come and look at it. We want to ensure that we take the right path with the boiler. One of the companies is very familiar with this specific type of boiler and they took it apart. They recommended repairs and service twice a year. This will still cost a fair amount, but it will be less than the cost of replacement. Budget has yet to be determined.

Our boiler, which is more than 50 years old, is on its last legs. Abe Thiessen and the facilities crew have babied this one along much farther than is normal. It’s time to replace it. A new one will bring a huge increase in effi- ciency but the price tag is not small. It will cost $35,000 – $40,000 for the replacement. This is too much to add to the budget so we are having a special project starting immediately to raise funds so we can replace the boiler before this winter. We need you to make donations to the “Fuel for the Boiler” project in the next few months in order that we can be done in time. Please make your offering, over and above your regular tithing, as soon as you can and let’s get this project done before fall. There are a lot of programs this winter depend- ing on that boiler.
