Sunday Review: Gary has begun a new series this fall and in the first couple of weeks the challenge has been clearly stated. How can we be certain of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection? By sitting at His feet, as Mary did in Luke chapter 10; by digging deeper, studying the word of God for ourselves (not just by listening to someone preach about it, or by reading a book or two); by giving Him a commitment not only of our time, life and money, but our full attention as well! We will be encouraged each week to make our adventure with Jesus count. Bring your pencil/pen every Sunday morning and take notes, then consider the questions and your own thoughts in preparation for your care group meeting during the week. Take the tour of this “Excellent Adventure” with us by connecting with a Care Group if you aren’t already in one; where the study will continue, as we explore this challenge and the life of Christ as we read and study in-depth, the gospel of Luke. If you need more information on finding a Care Group or are interested in starting your own group, please contact the church office, or talk to one of our pastors.

Sunday MORNING Preview: We will meet this Sunday morning at the Chilliwack land- ing (old Ag Rec) for the Terry Fox run in support of cancer research. Registration begins at 7:30a.m. with the run starting at 9:00a.m. Let’s come out in full force and demonstrate that our belief in God is completely compatible with a belief in sci- ence and research.

Sunday EVENING Preview: Our “regular” Sunday service will begin a little later this week – at 6:30 p.m. to be precise. Come out and hear about the adventures of our Philippines team from this summer.

Women’s Break started this week with 3 great study options to choose from; “Esther” by Beth Moore; “Sticky Church” by Larry Osborne; and “The Lies Young Women Believe: And the Truth That Sets Them Free” by Nancy Leigh DeMoss and Dannah Gresh. Women of all ages are encouraged to come on Tuesday mornings for fellowship, coffee and goodies and a time to connect with each other and get in a good study as well. Babysitting is provided.

CLUTCH (Middle School Youth) had it’s fall “debut” last week. 52 youth played speed scrabble, did running charades, an office chair race, “under the pews” race; you’ll have to get the details from them, but they had so much fun they are actually planning to come again this evening, for more fun and games and getting into the Word; and next week (Sept. 22nd) they are meeting at the corn maze. Come decked out in your “farmer” duds for one a- “maze”-ing time. If you aren’t sure what that looks like; call Abe Esau. The cost for this event
is: Age12&under-$5 Age13+ $ 7. Spread the word; CLUTCH rocks!
TRANSIT (Sr. Youth) also debuted last week. Approximately 25 youth showed up and enjoyed a great evening of games, fun and re- connecting. They are also planning a trip to the Corn Maze on September 28th and registrations are being accepted for the Camp Tulahead Retreat, coming up on October 1st- 3rd. $85 will cover the costs of your travel there, your stay, excellent food, entertainment and a great guest speaker; our own Jim Toohey. For more information on any of these events, please contact Erich at 604-792-9147.

Ministry Sunday…s

Our 1st Ministry Sunday highlighted two different councils and the ministries within them:

1.    The Growth & Discipleship Coun-cil – Lorne Bergen, Carolyn Parpatt, Rob Guretzki and Marcel Bal. Loren encouraged everyone to get connected to a Care Group and also highlighted our adult Sunday school classes being offered this fall. Rob Guretzki will be leading a series on spiritual warfare and Don Quiring will continue leading a prayer group on Sunday mornings at 9:15a.m.; (they also meet on Wednesday mornings at 6:00a.m. here at the church).
2.    Children and Youth Council – Doris Eichstadt, Sharon Snider, Bev Willms and Marnie Warkentin-Scott Doris paid tribute to Helen Dick who is stepping down after many years of faithful service in teaching Sunday school. Helen’s comment, spoken with tears in her eyes, as she received a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, was “I’m going to miss my children”. This gives you just an ink- ling of the level of dedication and love that is poured into our kids each week by so many faithful volunteers. Then we met “Schooner” a very “flighty” little parrot who excitedly told us all about what happens here at Broadway in our many areas of children’s minis- try: from Nursery to Sr. Youth.
Stay tuned as we con- tinue to highlight our councils on September 26th    and Oct 3rd. Don’t forget to fill out the bulletin inserts with any questions you have or to let us know where you want to get involved.

Speaking of Ministries:
Kids Klub is having their Kick-Off event tomorrow evening. There are already close to 60 kids registered and they keep coming! The hype is spreading! It looks like a new record will be set this year. It’s exciting to watch from an “office” perspective, as totally pumped kids come in with their parents, to hand in their registration forms and as posters are going up, and planning and preparations are being finalized. The 2010-2011 year is going to be the best ever!
Prayer Mail
Don’t forget about PrayerMail! It’s like email only much more powerful. Pass your prayer requests on to Evelyn Reimer and she has a group that will faithfully pray. You can connect with her at the following: bert-ev_reimer@sil.org Phone: 604-795-4432
Wedding bells will be ringing this weekend as our own Matt Sagert and Brittany Pauls get married
this Saturday. Everyone is invited to come to the ceremony here at Broadway at 1:00 p.m. to celebrate with them on their special day.
