Last Sunday’s Soup’n’Bun lunch has brought the Mexico 2008
Team to within $450 of its goal. The event was a success.
“Everybody” came, and they contributed $1900 toward the
Mexico project. Combined with what was raised at the
previous lunch, that leaves the team with just a small gap
to fill. The money will buy materials to build the house
our team will erect and give to a family in Baja.
The lunch itself was wonderful. Thanks to everyone who
rallied to the request to bring soup. It was a good time
- but, most important, it is going to provide a house for a
family that currently has no house in a part of the world
where that condition is all too common. Keep the Mexico
2008 Team - and their coming mission - in your prayers.

The BC Mennonite Brethren Conference Convention was held
on Friday and Saturday. It was a very “up” meeting. There
were some items that directly related to Broadway, too. It
was a happy day for us as the Convention voted to admit
Broadway Hispanic Church into the BC Conference. That’s
the church plant pastored by Reuben and Celine Zuniga that
meets at 1:30 in the Garage downstairs. Delegates to the
convention heard Pastor Gary talk about how we were
approached by the Bakerview Hispanic group who “wanted to
have a baby”.... a new church they could birth in
Chilliwack and bring to maturity, among the growing numbers
of Spanish-speaking people settling here. Pastor Gary
said, “We were happy to provide the crib for their baby”.
Pastor Reuben told the delegates that they feel so welcome
and cared for at Broadway and appreciate being part of us.
Also at the convention, two Broadwayites were voted into
provincial conference office. Arthur Loewen, chair of
BCMB’s Camping Ministries, was elected to a second
three-year term. And Roger Braun, who had taken last year
off from provincial office, was voted back on the
Conference Management Committee.

All recent and former campers with memories of Stillwood
(formerly called Columbia Bible Camp) are reminded of the
50th Anniversary weekend at the camp on Saturday and again
on Sunday afternoon. You would not believe the new “Barn”
gym, and all are welcome to the events and food that will
be part of the festivities.
A visit to the camp will remind you to get your
registration in for Broadway Camp, our weekend at
Stillwood, May 23-25.
This is the last week to register for the early bird rate
(Details from Joanne in the office.)

Pastor Wilf and Lorena are back from the BC Conference
Pastors’ and Spouses’ retreat at Harrison. They had a
wonderful, refreshing time and enjoyed this year’s speaker
(also the Conference Convention speaker), Tim Geddert of
MBBS.

Missionaries Mark and Amy Klassen have expressed
appreciation for their warm welcome to Broadway last
Sunday. They had a good time with our kids at Sunday
School, too!
