We now have a nominee for one of the two young-families ministers we are looking for! On Monday night, the Board of Elders unanimously endorsed the recommendation of the search committee. The nominee is Megan Stewart, known to Stillwood campers as Skittles. She has worked at Stillwood for nine summers and has already started the planning tasks for her tenth summer there. She is finishing a degree at Columbia Bible College and has worked both as an intern and as a volunteer in children’s and youth ministries at her church, Bakerview in Abbotsford. Now that she has been nominated, she will be introduced to Broadway kids, parents and church members as quickly as possible. Megan will be meeting this week with Children’s and Youth Ministry deacons. And she’ll come to Broadway next Tuesday, the 20th, at 7 PM to meet with parents and young people. Megan also says she can be present for most of our camp weekend, so she can meet more of the Broadway family. June 1st has been tentatively set for her to give her testimony, and a congregational vote would follow on that day. - - - The registration has now closed off for the Men’s Working Retreat at the Pines Camp in the West Kootenay at the end of May. Eight people have signed up. Pastor Gary initiated the first working camp weekend last year, when a hardy band of Broadway men went to the newest BC MB camp at Likely, in the Cariboo, and did some awesome building. So the Pines venture will be the “second annual...” If you forgot to register and still wish to do so, call the church office by Friday. - - - Broadway’s Missions Month wraps up this Sunday with the Sanchez family present in our service. The Sanchezes were in the first MBMSI team to go to Thailand and it will be good to hear what is happening in this challenging field. There is a second MBMSI group in the country now, down in the Phuket area, and Broadway’s Cynthia Friesen is working on that team. - - - We continue to be in search mode for office administration coverage for approximately 6 weeks, from mid-June to the end of July. If you are interested in this opportunity to earn a little extra summer spending money or would like more details, please call the church office or email Joanne at office@lifeatbroadway.com. - - - We are still accepting nominations for deacons and elders. Last year many of you took advantage of the on-line form to submit your nominations. If you would find this more convenient, please go the website @ www.lifeatbroadway.com. In the left-hand column, click on the bottom item “Nominations 2008” and follow the prompts. Or drop off your nomination forms at the church office. - - - We are thrilled to announce that a new baby has arrived. Congratulations to Erich and Naomi Petkau, on the birth of their son Calvin Jacob, born Monday, May 12th, weighing 6 lbs 14 oz; a brother for Konrad and Ava. Mom and baby are home and doing well! - - -
