The weather should be perfect for Broadway’s 2008 Camp
weekend at Stillwood! Temperatures in the mid-20s are
forecast, along with sunshine! 223 people registered for
this year’s camp - although very often, people will come
‘up the hill’ for our Sunday morning service (at 10 AM),
adding to those numbers. All sessions will be held in the
former dining hall - at ground level (no stairs!) - giving
easy access. As always, it is expected to be a great
‘Broadway church-family’ event.

Today is the deadline to submit names in our
leadership-selection process. A reminder went out by email
yesterday to jog the memories of people who intended to go
on-line and or to bring in their paper forms. There are
fewer on-line submissions this year than in 2007, when the
process was expanded to include electronic messaging. It
is still true - even if a person only has one name to
suggest, that name is important to submit! Questions can
be answered by Ken Braun (committee chair), Arthur Loewen
or Dave Snider.

Carolyn Parpatt has issued an invitation to travel in with
her for the live taping of the television marriage show,
Marriage Uncensored. She has already taken one person in
to an 11 AM taping session, and would welcome anyone else
who’d like to be there. The next session for Carolyn is
June 11th - on the topics “Confident Parenting - Is There
Such a Thing?” and “Creating a Media Safe Home”. The May
28th taping (to which Carolyn is not able to go) is on
“Fantastic After Forty” and “The First Five Years of
Marriage”.... and if enough people want to get together a
carload could still go in from Broadway. You can visit the
show’s website at www.marriageuncensored.com. And let
Carolyn or the office know if you’d like to travel in to
see it.

The Board of Elders met last night. Budgets are now being
prepared and will be reviewed next Monday by the Finance
deacons. Annual reports by deacon councils and special
ministries are being written and are due in by June 2nd.
The Annual General Meeting will be held June 22nd, a Sunday
evening, and one of its main items will be to discuss
Broadway’s experiment on how we fund ‘special projects’.
Other business -
• Elders are concerned about the low participation rate in
our Leadership Discernment process. They will do further
work on the issue, including examination of ways to involve
non-members in the process of suggesting suitable leaders.
• In that same context, elders want to review the entire
issue of membership, especially looking at the fact that
many active workers within in the Broadway family do not
wish to be formal members.
• The Caring deacons have submitted suggested policy
changes on how we look after those who are going through
‘rough patches’. The Benevolent Fund is maintained for
such times, but had been very short-term in scope. The new
policy takes a longer view. Pastor Wilf can tell you more.
• Pastor Wilf’s new part-time job description was approved.
He will retire this July from full time ministry, but will
remain as a part timer, on a 15-hour-a-week basis, to do
pastoral visitation and other duties.
• We still do not have a replacement for Joanne Dekkers,
our administrator, for the time when she must be away for
medical reasons, starting in late June. Prayer for a
suitable “temp” is requested.
