Broadway’s pastoral staff just grew, as of last Sunday. A
special congregational meeting, held after the service,
overwhelmingly endorsed the appointment of Megan Stewart as
one of our two new ministers to young people (K-young
adults). Megan is finishing up her degree work at Columbia
Bible College, and working for her tenth consecutive summer
on the staff of Stillwood Camp. She starts her new
position formally on August 25th, once her camp commitment
winds down, but already her thoughts and ideas are on
Broadway’s young people and programs. Welcome, Megan!

Meanwhile, the work continues to find the second person in
our two-person pastoral team for young people. The search
committee is still doing its due diligence. We keep the
search and the team members in our prayers.

A band of Broadway men has left a legacy at one of BCMB’s
camps. It was a great weekend for the men and their sons -
about two dozen, in all - who travelled to Grand Forks for
a weekend work retreat at the Pines camp. They painted,
laid floors and installed wainscoting in three cabins, did
electrical work, drove ATVs, fellowshipped and had a great
time. The camp, which once was designed only for summer
use, is being winterized for all-season use, and the men
from this church made a major impact on that process. And
everyone had a good time, including some little guys who
were awesome helpers!

Glenn Block wisecracked that it was “only a few feet”
across the platform (from where he usually stands as a
worship leader, to where he stood last Sunday as the
preacher), but it seemed more than that. It was his first
formal sermon, and it brought rave reviews. The topic was
contentment in the Lord.

Broadway’s Mexico 2008 team is on the last lap of its
fundraising efforts, in preparation for the ministry trip
to Baja California this summer. So it is no surprise that
they’re doing a double deal on June 14th, a week from
Saturday. There’s a car wash on our church parking lot,
with proceeds to the Mexico mission. And there’s a donut
deal -- Krispy Kremes! The car wash hours are 10-2 on the
14th. The Krispy Kremes will be available to order all
week. Watch the bulletin for details. The house-building
account is in reasonable condition, but a few individual
members’ efforts are behind where they need to be, so the
cause is a good one.

This has been quite a year for Broadway’s Sunday School,
Children’s Church, and Kidz Klub volunteers... and they’ll
be recognized and thanked for their work at a year-end
event on June 21st. Elders and others will be on hand from
3 - 7 pm to serve our workers and say “thank you” to all
the folks that worked so hard on children’s ministries.
